This May has been the final run up to my very first convention!
MCM Comic Con was on 27-29 May, and I’ve been working my butt off to get everything prepared.
Printing my own prints. Making my own jewellery pieces. And ordering in a whole load of tshirts. The tshirt order was a little bit of a disaster! I gave them three weeks notice, but when it got to just a few days before the convention I realised they hadn’t arrived yet. I contacted them and (politely) asked what the hell was going on. Apparently they were out of stock of some tshirt styles and asked me whether I wanted to wait until they were all in stock or change them for different styles. I nearly flipped my lid!! We’re talking just DAYS before the biggest Comic Con of the year, and my very first one. I was panicking like crazy, having spent soooo much money on tshirts it was just NOT an option to wait.
Thankfully my tshirt supplier got printing asap, and while I didn’t have the tshirts at the Comic Con on the Friday, I did have them from Saturday. Crisis averted – HOORAY!!!
I set up for the Comic Con on the Thursday before, and it was one of my first times driving into London, and the first time driving to the Excel. Thankfully it went fairly smoothly (I can get a bit tense when driving). Set-up was easy, and once I’d finished all my fears and anxieties seemed to fall away and turn into excitement!
It was all successful, and I was blown away by how many people came along to my table and picked up some prints and jewellery and tshirts! It was really lovely seeing people’s reactions to my artwork. I don’t think I stopped smiling all weekend!
So, here are some photos 🙂
